Safe Passage Receives International Day of Service Donations

Woman’s Club of Colorado Springs (WCCS) worked with Safe Passage to learn their donation needs. Safe Passage gives abused children a voice and enables the healing process by acting as the single source of contact for medical, investigative, and legal services. Safe Passage serves children from birth to the age of 18, as well as intellectually developmentally disabled adults, who are victims of sexual or physical abuse and/or are witnesses to homicide or domestic violence.

Abused children and the non-offending caregivers who must guide them through the healing process need support on many levels. Safe Passage and its co-located partner agencies provide services in one child-sensitive location and is the state’s only co-located CAC and the exemplary model for care. This co-location model minimizes further trauma by calming crisis, offering enhanced convenience to families, promoting teamwork, and improving efficiency, including streamlining the process for these cases as they move through the investigation. With team partners, Safe Passage provides a holistic approach to addressing child abuse that keeps investigations child-focused and offers the most comprehensive services available.

 Safe Passage is an accredited Children’s Advocacy Center and a member of the National Children’s Alliance. By WCCS supporting Safe Passage, we join in the mission to help children in need in our community.

WCCS Domestic & Sexual Violence Awareness & Prevention Chair, Barb Jones, and Assistant Chair Carolyn Heinz promoted and set up a donation collection at Carolyn’s home. Members, neighbors and friends donated over $1,395 items on the Safe Passage Most Needed list!
